Taped interview with Donald S. Hoebel (B.S. in Communications, 1933; Manager of Illini Publishing Company, 1934-47), done on January 31, 1994, concerning his undergraduate days and his work with Illini Publishing. Subjects include extracurricular activities, housing, fellow students, classes, professors, fraternities and sororities (especially Chi Psi), rushing, and the Illini Publishing Company including colleagues and staff, its operation and budget, the Champaign vice stories in the Daily Illini (1937-38), and relationships with School of Journalism and local press. Individuals discussed included Fred Turner, Manning Seil. Anthony Janata, Carl Stephens, Frank Schooley, Fred Siebert, D.W. Stevick, Victor Krannert, and Robert Zuppke, Two 90-minute cassettes.
